HERE IS THE ‘RENGOKU VS AKAZA’ HOODIE!! THIS PIECE IS INSANE, LET’S GET INTO IT!

On the front, I went with a CRAZYYY JUMBO EMBROIDERY OF ONE OF DEMON SLAYER’S MOST ICONIC FIGHTS, the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku taking on the Upper Moon 3 demon, Akaza! This embroidery is CRAZY, everything from the colours to the placement to the artwork is perfect and I couldn’t be any happier with it 😮💨 I designed this piece when I originally watched this fight, and that was at a point in time when the audience hated Akaza for what he did.. but we didn’t know his backstory then 🥲 does that excuse all the bad things he’s done? No, but it gives some insight as to the rage he feels. Kyojuro Rengoku was someone who was the epitome of being a Hashira, putting the lives of innocent people before his own, and fighting to protect people, he fought til the very end trying to protect others. These are all emotions that I aimed to capture with this piece, and I think you can really feel these feelings when you look at it!

In terms of the design itself, this was probably the most difficult artwork i’ve ever created. I’m not used to drawing full bodies turning, but the angle that I wanted to take with this piece required that. I do however, excel in lighting and shadows, and I think this piece really reflects that, from the lighting on Akaza’s body to the shadows in Rengoku’s hair. Believe it or not, Akaza’s torso and legs are actually based on my own body, I had to use myself as a reference to assist me in creating this design and making it anatomically accurate! There are little details that you’ll notice when you see this piece in hand, from the details in Akaza’s eyes, the stitching pattern in Rengoku’s hair. At the end of the day, I couldn’t be more proud with this piece. I think it really pushes my limits as an artist, and it has a lot of meaning behind it with the two forces colliding on the hoodie. It is a work of art visually and emotionally, I almost want to frame it 🤩
